02 Dec New Fyke Nets
Just back from a fun couple of days breaking in a set of new fyke nets while undertaking a predator fish survey as part of a Growling Grass Frog Litoria raniformis Management Plan. The nets worked a treat and we caught more than expected including a few natives: Short-finned Eel Anguila australis, Congolli Pseudaphritis urvilli and Common Galaxias Galaxias maculatus as well as our fair share of exotics: Mosqitofish Gambusia holbrooki, Goldfish Carassius auratus auratus and Redfin Perca fluviatilis.
